Huddled in the
North East corner of the square in the White Horse public house. The White Horse
was at one time The Vicarage and home of the Rev. Sampson Hieron
who died in 1677. Perhaps the present use of the building has disturbed the
old cleric sufficiently enough for him to have been known to make regular appearances
in the pub, a grey haired gentleman in a black gown and gaiters who stands gazing
into the large fireplace. He supposedly appears at 10.10 a.m. in the mornings.
