The picture above shows the long central aisle of the Church and it is just possible to see the North and South aisles on either side. The floor of Victorian tile is very uneven in many places but the North aisle which is obviously not used, other than for storage, shows the most need of repair and improvement. It is said that during the Civil War that Roundhead troops actually stabled their horses in this Church
The Vicar's Hudd
© P.E. Blanche 1998On the left is a picture of an unusual piece of Church equipment which is seldom seen now. It is the Vicar's hudd and still stands just inside the Church near the porch. Obviously, very much like a military sentry box, it was used during inclement weather to protect the Vicar from the elements when he was performing outdoor services such as a burial.
