The Royal Dragoon, Military Road, Canterbury

The Royal Dragoon would have probably been a familiar sight for many ex-army personnel that were stationed in or around the ex-cavalry barracks in the Sturry Road in Canterbury. It now stands closed and boarded up with a contractors sign on the front. The picture depicting a member of the "Royal" or "First" Dragoons, representing another era, has been taken down long ago.

A little off the beaten track for most visitors, standing as it does, just outside the City Walls, I would suspect that lack of custom with many of the barracks demolished, led to its closure.
