The Brewer's Delight

There has been a "Brewers Delight" in Broad Street since at least 1847. It is lucky to have survived as it is the last of a row of properties to the North of Lady Wooton's Green that were left standing when a bomb landed on the area in 1942. The current sign hanging at the front shows two very happy monks sharing a joke over a pint. The Whitbread sign that hung here for so many years [and is detailed above] just had a picture of barley and hops.

At one time, this pub had a very active social club and were well known for their prowess at many sports, including darts and the local game of "bat and trap".
