Those of you who may not be familiar with Kent customs or the way of life will need to have the fact pointed out that the tent in the background is the beer tent! Morris dancing is extremely thirsty work and it is most unusual for present day morris dancing to be performed any further away than falling distance from licensed premises. By the same token, it would be very unusual to see such dancing performed outside of pub "opening hours". Dehydration is the constant concern of every morris dancer and is taken as a serious threat to its future survival by every participant!
...and what else can be said about grown men beating each other with sticks!
