Hawkhurst - All Saints Church

All Saints Church - FOR SALE
© P.E. Blanche 1998

This, depending on available planning permission, may be one of the last pictures of All Saints Church in Hawkhurst. When I passed through the Village in November, I only had time to stop and take this picture and the reason for this was that there was an Estate Agent's sign outside to announce that the property was for sale. It was an extremely dark and gloomy day so the quality of the picture is not great but at least the Church is now recorded here.

The Church was built in 1861 by the first Vicar, The Rev. Henry Anthony Jeffreys and his Sister, Charlotte. It was constructed of sandstone by G.G. Scott as a "chapel-of-ease" to the original Hawkhurst Parish Church of St. Laurence.
