For
genealogists (which is to a large extent why this site is here), it is
useful to know where the Archives at Canterbury Cathedral are located.
I know that there are plenty of helpful staff around to point you in the
right direction but I thought that I'd add pictures here so that those
who are travelling from a distance have a chance to gain some kind of
idea of what they're looking for before they arrive. In the picture (top
left), the large arrow in the sky points to the roof of the Archives while
the smaller arrow points to the position of the entrance at the back of
the cloisters which is pictured below. Details of opening times for all
the Kent Archives can be found on this
page. The older black and white picture (bottom left) is a photograph of the same area at the turn of the last Century. This shows the roof of the archives building as then being a slightly different shape because it was one of the few areas of the Cathedral complex to receive a direct hit during WWII and subsequently had to be rebuilt. ![]() |
